Geneva Fun Plex and Experiments!
The students were so excited to go to the Geneva Fun Plex this week! They were able to do the arcades, bouncy houses, and games throughout the building. We had about 40 students there at once so it was difficult to try and get pictures of everyone. The ones that I do have were full of smiles!
We finally earned all of the letters of the word 'experiment' so we did three experiments after our reading and spelling tests. The first experiment mixed oil and colored water. We discussed that oil and water don't mix and how to put out a grease fire in the kitchen. The second experiment combined baking soda and vinegar to blow up a balloon with the carbon dioxide gas. We talked about oxygen and carbon dioxide and the important roles they play in our environment. The last experiment was definitely the biggest hit! We poured whole milk in a pan and added a lot of food coloring drops in the milk. Finally we put a Q-tip full of Dawn dish soap and gently touched the milk mixture. The students said a lot of "Oohs and ahh's" during this process! We are now working towards earning the privilege of wearing pajamas to school.
We also watched a drum band from Omaha play in the Geneva Theater on Monday. You're children should be pleasantly tired after this week!
