Philosophy of Teaching/Why you teach: I teach because I want to make a difference in the lives of our children. I want them to learn how to learn and not just what to learn. I believe that it is crucial that we teach lifelong skills so that they will be successful in whatever they choose to do. I want the students to be independent and confident in what they are doing.
Favorite Part of Teaching: I love to find and learn different ways to teach the same concept. I enjoy making learning easy and fun to do. My favorite part of teaching is when a struggling student says, "This is so easy!"
Educational Experience: I have taught special education in Hebron for 4 years and coached Special Olympics. I have taught Title 1 and special education in Shickley for 5 years and then moved to first grade in 2007. I have thoroughly enjoyed this position.
Hobbies: I love to go to the lake with my family and water ski. I also love watching my black labs hunt in the field. I always seem to be reading something. I enjoy quilting and being outdoors.
Family: I have been married to my husband since 1986 and have 2 grown children.
