The first graders have been working hard on learning the rules of the school as well as the classroom. We are reviewing the sounds and letters of the alphabet by putting the letter tiles in order. They are learning some digraphs (wh, ch, sh, ph, th, qu, and ck) ahead of time to help jump start their reading progress. We use kinesthetic movements to help make a connection to the sound. The students have focused on how to fill each other's invisible buckets to make their friends feel good and what actions take drops out of their buckets. We are also practicing how to teach each other without just giving them the answer. We've had a wonderful two days so far!
