Writing about our summer!
The students used a circle map to draw out important events that happened during the summer. Then we brainstormed ways to start our stories about their summer so that everyone could choose their first sentence. The circle map provided support if they became confused about what they needed to write. These stories will be posted on our bulletin board so they have an audience to write for, which helps them keep motivated to do their best writing. The students have learned the importance of using their proper handwriting position as it improves legibility and keeps their letter formation consistent.
