Seniors Write to Persuade

This spring semester, senior students have the option of enrolling in English for dual credit through our partnership with Peru State College.  The mission of English 101: English Composition is to prepare students for success in college and career by developing their skills in writing, reading, and critical thinking.

One of the genres of writing the seniors are exploring is Persuasive Writing.  This type of writing promotes critical thinking; it forces authors to take a stand and defend their thinking.  As the culminating project for this unit, each student was asked to publish a 500-600 word persuasive writing, selected from a(n) editorial, personal commentary, or position paper.  You are invited to read their writing here:
