Reading Strategies Reference Guide

As a part of their "Reading for High School and Beyond" unit during the fall semester, the freshmen were asked to create a Reading Strategies Reference Guide that can be used by students to improve their deliberate efforts to improve reading comprehension.  They worked collaboratively to write a guide that introduces the following strategies and provides valuable tips, examples, and resources to readers.
  • Predicting
  • Visualizing
  • Questioning
  • Summarizing
  • Connecting
  • Inferring
As they learned about different reading strategies and prepared to write their reference guide, they worked together using LiveBinders, a social bookmarking site that allows users to create an electronic version of a three-ring binder.  Together, they added resources to a LiveBinder.  Exploring, evaluating, and selecting related resources helped them prepare to publish their reference guide, which they wrote together in a Google doc.  The final draft of their Readng Strategies Reference Guide is now available and we encourage you to take a look at it:
