The students were thrilled to have a chance to use the high school microscopes to see muscles, bones, and cartilage.  They were even more excited to have a chance to tour the science lab and see a large skeleton with replicas of the organs in our body.  We have finished 3 weeks of "Smart Start" in our reading series and are now ready to tackle the units.  We have briefly learned the sounds of -ur, -ou, -ar,  qu, -ee, -ow, str, -ew, and -ay.  They have actions to help them remember the sounds.  This will come in very handy when they actually have to learn each sound.  The children love using IXL for extra math practice and have managed to answer over 500 questions on their I-pads, which is impressive since there are only 4 students.
