ABC sorting

The first graders are learning the difference between vowels and consonants.  They are putting their letter tiles in alphabetical order.  One trick they are using is to point to each letter and then find it with the other hand.  Handwriting has been a main focus since school started.  We have learned actions and the sounds for ch, wh, sh, th, and ph.  The children have enjoyed singing and dancing to a "Brain Boogie Boosters" song.   We have also read a story called "How Full is Your Bucket?"  They have little pictures of buckets taped to their desks to remind them to 'fill' each others buckets with polite words and actions.
